Top parrot breeds are the most preferred choice of bird lovers for parrot pets. There are many parrot species, which belong to this group and are the favorite birds for many. You will read about these birds in detail in the following pages.

Scarlet chested Parakeet

Scarlet chested Parakeet, also known as Splendid Parakeet, is a beautiful bird. It is the member of Grass Parakeets having several variations ranging from an attractive lutino to a white front blue. Its total length is about 20 cms or 8 inches. Adult male Scarlet chested Parakeet has a turquoise blue head, brilliant blue face and black beak. If you give this parrot proper housing and nutrition, they can certainly live more.

Turquoisine Parrot

Turquoisine Parrot or Turquoise Parrot is a rare parrot, belonging to the endangered species list. Male Turquoisine Parrot is a highly unique looking bird, which is about 8 inches. Its body is beautifully marked with bright green upperparts, turquoise blue crown and face. The shoulders of Turquoisine Parrot are turquoise blue and deep blue having light color on the flight feathers. The chestnut red patch on the upper wing of the parrot gives it a beauty spot.

Red rumps Parrot

The Red rumps Parrot or Psephotus haematonotus or Grass Parrot or grassy, is a common parrot found mostly in south eastern Australia, particularly in the Murray Darling Basin. They feed mainly on grass seeds. Red rumps parrots are slender, graceful and modest size parrot. It is about 28cms in length. The feathers of Red rumps male are bright emerald green, yellow under parts, brick red rump and blue highlights on the wings and upper back.

Rosellas

Rosellas, native to Australia and surrounding islands, live in forests, farmlands, woodlands and suburban parks and gardens. They are usually restricted to the coastal mountains and plains and are also seen in New Zealand and Norfolk Island. These parrots are found in two species—Crimson rosella and Eastern rosella. Gorgeous Crimson Rosella is said to be the most imposing birds of this species.

Plum heads Parakeet, scientifically called Psittacula cyanocephala is resident breeder parrot of South East Asia, mainly India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It is a bird of forest and open woodland, which lives in holes in trees. Plum heads Parakeet is a green parrot, which is 33 cm long and tail about 22 cms. The head of the male is red. Princess of Wales Parakeets

Princess of Wales Parakeets is a delightful bird having attractive looks that make it ideal pets. This elegant looking bird is native to Central and Western. An average size Princess of Wales Parakeet parrot measures about 15.5 inches or 40 centimeters at maturity.
